The Gu rains started earlier than usual in late March bringing consistent, heavy rains and causing flash floods in most of the federal states in South Central Somalia. Increased rainfall has resulted in the rise of water levels in the two main rivers, Shabelle and Juba, leading to severe flooding in central and southern regions of Somalia. 719,000 people have been highly affected across 23 districts in 10 regions.
