The Somali Youth Day celebration at the Puntland State University was characterized by high level of youth representation and attended by line ministers, members of the Parliament and media.

UNFPA Sub Office in Puntland, delivered a statement emphasizing the importance of holistic approach in promoting youth societal participation and furthering the notion of youth as ‘agents of change' being one of the key aspects of the Youth Policy of Puntland State of Somalia. It was underlined that youth empowerment and full-fledged societal participation can only be achieved if their reproductive health concerns and needs are squarely addressed.

The sub-office added that youth reproductive health needs can be accelerated using a holistic approach, including developing talents and skills of youth, communication and interpersonal skills, confidence building and leadership participation.
