More midwives graduate with UNFPA Somalia’s support

Twenty-five midwifery students completed a two-year midwifery programme on 2 March 2020 at Mogadishu Midwifery School which UNFPA supports through the Ministry of Health of the Federal Government of Somalia.

The students were enrolled from Lower and Middle Shabelle and have since gone back to their communities to help save the lives of mothers and newborn babies.

In Somaliland, 40 midwives graduated from the Hargeisa School of Health Sciences on 1 March 2020 also through UNFPA’s support to the Somaliland Ministry of Health Development.

Somaliland’s Ministry of Health and Development awarded UNFPA a certificate of recognition for supporting the training of midwives.
