The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Somaliland is intensifying efforts to fight gender-based violence (GBV) through the establishment of GBV working groups across the region with financial and technical support from UNFPA.

The Ministry has since conducted a five-day training on GBV case management and GBV information management system for members of existing GBV working groups and service providers from eastern regions of Somaliland; Lasanod, Burco and Erigavo from July 20 to 24, 2016.

Apart from paving way for the establishment of more working groups, the training assisted in the formulation of concrete actions that will strengthen GBV coordination and result based reporting across Somaliland.

GBV regional coordinators who attended the training appreciated the capacity strengthening and stressed that they were equipped with value-adding knowledge to the quality of work that they are doing towards the fight against GBV.
